What to expect when working with me as your Portrait Photographer, before, during & after

Before, During & After, The Portrait Session

Initial Enquiry

So you got in contact with me, via my contact form, email, instagram message or really old school a letter through the post. I always aim to respond within 48 hours, if you haven’t heard from me, please check your spam/junk folder or best thing is to send me a quick message on my phone or leave a voicemail.

That first chat

When first speaking I always try to do it in person, but with the emergent and ease of video chat, I tend to arrange one, so you can do this in the comfort of your home. Meeting face to face (or video camera to video camera) is very important. Yes, you love my work, but before we move to the next step, I want you to get to know me and like me. Your portrait session will begin with me getting to know everyone, your interests and your unique personalities for a truly personal session.

So ask away...

So ask a bunch of questions, I am happy to answer anything from what my favourite movies is to why I hate apples. Ask me what I am like on a photoshoot and how I work with you and your family to capture the perfect images.

I also like to ask questions to get to know you, what make your laugh, smile, even what you argue about ;

So let’s chat.

Quote & Questionnaire

So after the chat, I will send out a simple questionnaire, just asking for a few details including name, best dates for you to shoot and locations for your shoot.

I will also send you a quote with the packages and add ons that we discuss in our chat. Have a look over them, discuss with each other and then…

Let’s Team Up

I will also send you a quote with the packages and add ons that we discuss in our chat. Have a look over them and then…So you are ready to book! You are happy with the packages and the add ons you have chosen, and you are happy to have me photograph you. The next step will be to accept the quote, and send back your questionnaire. Once I received these, I can send out a booking form. Now to officially book me, I need the booking form signed & returned, also I take a 50% of your total fee as a deposit.

And that is it, we can relax, you have got me, we are a team

Plan up for the shoot

I am lifestyle portrait photographer, so when comes to planning before the shoot you don’t need to do loads. There are a few things you should think about though.

  1. Location -  I want your photos to be as natural and personal as possible, so choosing a location for your shoot should be somewhere that you feel is natural and represent you. I have shot sessions at family homes, in city centres, parks, woods and on beaches. I can always help with locations, so just ask if you get stuck.

  2. Timings - Usually the best time to schedule a shoot is around Golden Hour, which is usually just after Sunrise and before Sunset. But I know that isn’t possible all the time, but trying to keep away from harsh lights in the day time is probably the best thing so I would say anytime before 10:30am and after 3:30pm in the Summer period. If you are booking any other time of the year, then I can advise you good times.

  3. What to Wear - Best advice is to be comfortable! And especially with children, don’t stress about getting them in their Sunday best (only if you want them to), the best images are the ones where everyone is happy with what they are wearing or not wearing!

  4. Working it - My style of photography is both casual and natural, as I feel the best images are taken when your family is less aware of the camera. In this way I capture more natural moments between you instead of directing you to look, speak, or pose yourselves in specific ways :-)

  5. It’s fun - It’s going to be fun, so relax, and don’t worry.

After the Shoot

After the photo shoot, I will go into my little editing hole and only come out when all your images are ready for your gallery. You will receive an email with a link and password to your own Private Gallery and all the instructions on how to view, download and buy your digital download and prints.

We also can discuss photo books, prints, and wall art. Please check out some example pricing for product here.
