What to expect when working with me as your Wedding Photographer or Filmmaker

Before the Wedding

Initial Enquiry

So you got in contact with me, via my contact form, email, instagram message or really old school a letter through the post. I always aim to respond within 48 hours, if you haven’t heard from me, please check your spam/junk folder or best thing is to send me a quick message on my phone or leave a voicemail. I never not respond to any enquiry, even if I am not available for your date, I will always respond.

If I am not available for your date, I will always check with my trustee circle of wedding professional who might be available and I will send over a few who available for your viewing.

That first chat

When first speaking I always try to do it in person, but with the emergent and ease of video chat, I tend to arrange one, so you can do this in the comfort of your home. Meeting face to face (or video camera to video camera) is very important. Yes, you love my work, but before we move to the next step, I want you to get to know me and like me. Your wedding is a very special occasions with all your favourite people around you. I want you and yours to be comfortable and relax around me. For that day and all the days leading up to it, I want you to see as a friend who is amazing at taking photos or filming your wedding day.

So ask away...

So ask a bunch of questions, I am happy to answer anything from what my favourite movies is to why I hate apples. Ask me what I am like on a wedding day and how I work with my couples to capture that perfect day.

I also like to ask questions to get to know you, what make your laugh, smile. How you two met and what your day is going to be like.

So let’s chat.

Quote & Questionnaire

So after the chat, I will send out a simple questionnaire just asking the usual; Names, Wedding Date, Venue(s), Contact details.

I will also send you a quote with the packages and add ons that we discuss in our chat. Have a look over them, discuss with each other and then…

Let’s Team Up

So you are ready to book! You are happy with the packages and the add ons you have chosen, and you are happy to have me in your life. The next step will be to accept the quote, and send back your questionnaire. Once I received these, I can draw up a contract and send that out to you. Now to officially book me, I need the contract signed & returned, also I take a 33% of your total fee as a deposit.

And that is it, we can relax, you have got me, we are a team.

Before the Big Day

If you need any other help with aspect of your wedding plan, just ask. I have a network of professional wedding suppliers who may be able to help. So florist to planners across the country and beyond, I can direct you to the right person.

If you have any questions for me, do not hesitate. I have been to quite a few weddings, so I have seen some! Any tips & tricks to make your day run smoothly, ask away.

So one month before your wedding day, the remainder of the balance is due. I also will send out a questionnaire asking for more details of your plans for the day. Be as detailed as possible especially with timings (getting ready, ceremony time, dinner time and party time). Also groups shots and list of speakers for the ceremony and speeches.

The week of the wedding

I will give you a quick call or email just checking that their isn’t any changes especially locations and timings. But it is nice to hear the excitement from you guys as you countdown to the wedding.

The Big Day

The Morning

So it is here!! And the first thing is we are there!! I always aim to be at the first location early, earlier than we usually agree. What I don’t want is you to worry that I am going to be late, and I rather sit in my car in the car park for half hour getting my kit ready than stuck in traffic or on a train stressing. If your Wedding is more than 3 hours from my quiet Oxfordshire village, I tend to stay near by, again to take away that stress of being late and also turning up to your wedding tired of driving for hours.

Now you see me, Now you don’t, but you always see me ;)

The way I photograph or film your day is all about being in the right places at the right time. I don’t believe in the concept of not being seen on the day, I want you and your guests to feel very comfortable around me, not someone hiding in the corner, but also someone not getting in the way and making the day about them.

Time for the ceremony

I am not one for having a million pieces of equipment, you won’t find me with tripods and cameras in your way and in your face. If you are booking me for film, I tend to set up one or two small tripods (depending on space) and have one camera on me. I also will usually mic up the registrar, either one or both of the couple, and anyone who might be doing a reading.

Everything is minimal, so their isn’t any distractions. The worse thing is having your photographer/videographer walking around making noise and taking away from this important time. This is one of the situation you where you don’t see me

The In-Between time

Sometimes its called The drinks reception, cocktail hour or just the time between ceremony and sit down. Whatever you call it, it is the time where you can relax, chill and spend time with your guests.

I will be around capturing everything that is going on, the laughter, the smiles, all the great emotions that is happening. I will be organising the group shots, I always say to my couples to keep these to a minimum, you don’t want to take away the time you have mingling. I also usually take you two away for some portraits, again I try and keep this to a minimal, I’m not doing a fashion shoot.

Also something very important you should know about me and this time of the wedding…

I love a canapés or three, so please make sure you speak to your caterer to save a few for me

Dinner & Speeches

When you sit down, this is usually the time I sit down as well, time to charge my batteries and my cameras as well.

I do ask for a hot meal can be provided, if one cannot be provided, please let me know so that I can make provisions for myself.

Speeches are great, I love them, one tip I can give is try and do them either before the meal is served or after. In between courses can be a bit of a hassle for us, as one this is the only time we get to chill throughout the day, also setting up equipment and then moving out of the way is not ideal.

Party time

The food has been eaten, the tables have been cleared, the band or DJ is set to play that list of bangers to get you on the dance floor until the house lights come back on. I will be there! Right in the middle of it and right up to the time we are both happy that I have captured all the essence of your day. So if that means I am still there until the lights come on, well I will be.

Afters

The Comedown

The best wedding day is over, and you are trying to remember some of the best moments that happen! So few days later I will send a couple of photos or a 30sec -1 min intro film to you. And with your permission, I sometimes post these up on my socials.

The Delivery of your Wedding

Your wedding images should be ready to view, share and download in around 8 weeks and your wedding film in around 12 weeks after your wedding. This is an estimate and please note, the summer months are the busiest period, where I can be away from the studio at weddings 3-4 days a week, so will not be at my desk editing as much as my quiet months.

I personally do all the editing for all my weddings that I shoot, and every wedding is different, so I don’t just do a blanket editing, one fits all process! I like to treat editing of your wedding, like I treated the actual day. You will get all the emotions and feeling of the day through my photos and films.

All images and films will be delivered via your very own Online private Gallery that you can share with family and friends, and if you hired us for both photo and film, this will be delivered on the same platform, so it becomes like your own little wedding website. Please let me know and I can show you an example on how it looks and work.

Any longer than usual delays in delivery of your wedding, I will communicate this with you to explain, so don’t worry.

As I say, I would rather take a little bit longer editing to deliver the best, than rush through and deliver poor.

Any Sides with your Mains

If you order any prints, USB stick with presentation box, or extra footage ie full ceremony or full speeches. I will be sending them straight after all your main stuff has been delivered.

You can also order albums, photo books and large wall art straight from me. And you can order before your wedding or up to 1 year after your wedding. Please get in contact if you want to discuss the process, pricing and special promotions on albums and other print items

Feedback, Reviews & Recommendation

Feedback is important to me, I want to constantly be the best photographer or filmmaker that a couple can book. Learning from you and knowing what you think of me and my work, before, on and after your wedding is always great.

Even better is if you could leave me a review on Google, Facebook or send it to me, so that I can add it to my website.

Another bonus is to recommend me to your friends, family, work colleague, or maybe someone on the train who you overheard talking about getting married. Most of my work comes from recommendation and it is so nice when I see couples, who’s wedding I have shot, at a wedding.

Finally…

I hope this is a help and now you have a insight in how I work and what the process is when you are considering booking me as your wedding photographer or filmmaker. But please, please ask questions if anything isn’t clear and I should hopefully clear anything up for you.
